Aquiles and Lucinda Lanao formed the first village banks in Ayacucho, through the help of Rural Development Services (SDR)

FINCA Peru began its operations- through an agreement with the InterAmerican Foundation (IFA)

Initiated pilot project in Lima.

Expansion of village banks in Ayacucho and Lima- through an agreement with ADEX/USAID - MSP.
   
  1996
Creation of a regional office in Huancavelica- Through an agreement with IAF.
   
  1997
Creation of the regional office in Lima.
   
  1998
Achieved financial independenceDesigned the strategic plan for 1998-2002.
   
  1999
General information system implemented, including operations of village banks.
Completed Evaluation of Impact in Lima - AIMS/USAID.
   
  2000
Completed principals of management applicable to financial entities in Peru.
   
  2002
Began teaching business principals to clients in Lima
Reduced interest rates.
   
  2003
Designed strategic plan for 2003-2007.  Initiated program to teach business skills in Ayacucho.
Organized, in coordination with the network of Peruvian village banks, the first forum on village banking in Latin America.
   
  2004
Received special recognition from the Center for Competition in Ayacucho for our work in the development sector in 2003.  Presented a workshop on the methodology of community banks for the Hope Foundation in Chile.
   
  2005
Opened new office in the city of Ayacucho.  Received a mention of merit from CGAP for transparency in business in the region of Latin America and the Caribbean.
   
  2006
Participated in the second forum of village banks
Participated in the fourth interamerican form on micro enterprise organized by BID
Initiated Project Wari
Executive director of FINCA invited to be a to be a panel member at the global summit on micro credit in Canada and to organize a workshop on: “Microfinance, sustainable development and female empowerment” in India.
