The 2006 Global Summit on Micro credit was held the 12 through 15 of December in Halifax Nova Scotia, Canada.  Executive Director of FINCA Peru, Iris Lanao Flores was a panelist in two separate sessions titled “Using New Discoveries to Improve Products and Services” and “Gender Equality and Microfinance”

2,000 delegates attended the event.   They represented 100 different countries, and included heads of state, and government, and other dignitaries.  It was simultaneously translated in English, French, and Spanish.

The Global Summit offered an opportunity for those involved in microfinance to evaluate progress towards the summit goal of serving 100 million people.
